Dear Parents,
Fall Festival was a huge success. I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to Corrie Johnson, Page Connolly, and all of the parents who worked tirelessly to make this a memorable day for our Lower School children.
I would also like to thank the new first through fifth grade students who joined me for Pizza with the Principal luncheons over the last three months. It was such a pleasure getting to know the children and hearing about their first impressions of Lovett. Thankfully, they all agree that they “love it at Lovett.”
We hosted our first Lower School Coffee this morning and enjoyed spending time with our African and African American families. If you are interested in joining the Lower School administration and Ellice Hawkins, Director of Multicultural Programs and Services, for an upcoming coffee, but have not had a chance to reply, click here to find out more and r.s.v.p.
It is hard to believe it is already November. Soon, it will be time to conference with your child’s teacher. You will receive the conference schedule next week. If the time you have been given is not convenient, please feel free to exchange times with a family in your child’s class. Be sure to let the teacher know of this change, so they will be prepared for your conference when you arrive.
Lower School carpool is improving, and we are grateful to Lovett’s security team for assisting us every day. Thank you for using our new on-line system. It is working very well and has been a great help communicating carpool changes to teachers, ASAP, and Afternoon Enrichment in a timely manner. Several of you have offered some wonderful suggestions, and Edi Houghton and I are meeting with Tony Bielo and Chip Wood next week to share these suggestions and brainstorm ways we can make carpool run even more smoothly. Sometimes it may appear that a person is cutting in front of you. Please trust that, in most cases, there is a legitimate reason for this. In some instances, a parent of a Lower and Middle School child may intentionally come at the tail end of our carpool, because she is also picking up her older child(ren) who has a later dismissal. Lower School tutorial and enrichment class lines may already have formed; yet, regular carpool is still in progress. I urge you to be patient and understanding. Please do not assume that a parent is breaking the rules.
We have a number of important events happening during the next two weeks. Please mark your calendars:
Enjoy the month of November. Please do not hesitate to let me know what I can do for you.
Warm regards,
Mary M. Baldwin
Lower School Principal
