Dear Parents,
There are many exciting things happening during the next few weeks that I would like to share with you.
Fifth graders participated in the launch of Diversity Books Clubs on Thursday, September 12. Those interested in joining a diversity book club will receive their books soon and pizza luncheon book discussions will occur in October.
This Thursday, September 19, our fifth graders will travel to Nature’s Classroom in Mentone, Alabama, for their annual overnight trip. They are looking forward to a memorable two days.
Hopefully, our fifth graders will not be too tired to join the rest of us at Friday night’s football game against St. Pius. This is Lower School Spirit Night. At the bottom of this email, you will find a flyer with more information. In honor of this very special occasion, there will be a Lower School blue and white NUD (Non Uniform Day) on Friday, September 20. Please be advised that parental supervision is required for Lower School children attending the game.
School pictures for grades two through five will be on Tuesday, September 24. Pictures for kindergarten and first grade will be on Wednesday, September 25.
Third Grade Fun Night is Friday, September 27. Permission slips and more information will be coming home soon.
Thanks to our Lower School Grade Reps who participated in our first meeting of the year last Thursday. I would like to share a few points of interest from that meeting:
Warm regards,

Thanks to our Lower School Grade Reps who participated in our first meeting of the year last Thursday. I would like to share a few points of interest from that meeting:
- Carpool was a topic of discussion. Room parents will be sending a communication outlining several changes we are making.
- We hope to implement an online carpool change procedure within the next few weeks. More information will follow.
- Lovett places an emphasis on sustainability and being conscientious stewards of our environment. Therefore, we ask that carpool line be considered a “no idle zone.” Please turn off your car engines while waiting for carpool to begin. We do understand that this may not always be possible for families with small children in car seats.
- Class lists will not be available until Sneak-A-Peek next year. They will be emailed the morning of your child’s Sneak-A-Peek. This will provide an opportunity for you to see the lists prior to coming to school to meet your child’s teachers and classmates.
- Parents are generally pleased with our increased security measures. There are panic buttons in each classroom in the event of an emergency. We have practiced lockdown, inclement weather, and fire drill procedures, and additional drills have been scheduled.
- While there was some confusion around pick-up procedures during our first home football game, new information is posted on the Lovett homepage. Pick-up at the pond is permissible; however, parents must use the Paces Ferry entrance during game time.
Warm regards,
Mary Baldwin
