Dear Parents,
It is hard to believe we are entering the final stretch. I mentioned in my last newsletter that April would be a busy month, and May will be even busier! Here are some important events happening in the Lower School during the next few weeks:
We received a great deal of positive feedback when ERB consultant Ann Harris visited last spring. We are pleased to announce that she is returning to Lovett on May 13. Ann will provide helpful information on how to interpret your child's ERB scores. We hope you will be able to join us in the Alston Memorial Chapel at 8:30 am.
The Lower School administration will be honoring our teachers with a special treat each day next week. Thank you to the LPA for hosting a breakfast one morning. Parents, you may want to encourage your child to write a card to their teacher. Notes from your little ones always mean the world to us.
Math department heads, Teddi Bair and Andrea Morgan, are extending an invitation to fifth grade parents to meet the sixth grade math teachers and hear about the transition to Middle School math. The sixth grade teachers, and Andrea Morgan, will explain what to expect and how students are placed in classes. Please join them on Monday, May 19, from 12:30 to 1:30 pm in the Middle School MPR (parents only).
As you begin planning for next year, here are the 2014-15 key dates:
Grades K-4 end of the year parties will be on Friday, May 16, in the Lower School. Each grade level will do something unique, and we know the teachers and children will have a lovely celebration of their year.
Thanks to all who volunteered to be a “Circle” family. We look forward to introducing you to the members of your circle on Monday, May 19.
Afternoon Enrichment is gearing up for the Fall and introducing a new program: ALTA tennis! Tryouts for the boys and girls teams are May 13 and May 15. Click here for more information.
Congratulations to Mallorie Fonseca and the Culture Crew! The Lower School is now recognized by the Anti-Defamation League as an official No Place For Hate school.
A special shout out to third grader Ryan Coombs, fourth grader James Kemp, and fifth grader Chandler Kenny, for receiving the Beverly Lange, Carol Ordover, and Evelyn Kling Awards. The children's names will be added to the Award plaques in the Lower School. What a lovely honor!
Have a merry month of May, everyone!
Warm regards,
Mary Baldwin
Lower School Principal
