For the second year in a row, the Lower School administration and a handful of Lower School teachers have organized book clubs for our 5th grade students. The books that have been selected are centered around issues of diversity, bullying, inclusivity, and various other social issues. Participation in the clubs is completely voluntary for the students, and the groups will meet over lunch to discuss their books sometime in the middle of October. Last year these clubs proved to be a fantastic way to generate strong discussion between children and adults, and it prompted important conversations about what it means to be an accepting, respectful member of the Lovett community and of the world.
